FEMALE FOOTY TO GROW IN THE EAST

INTERESTED IN PLAYING GIRLS OR WOMEN’S FOOTY?

Football in the East takes on a whole new look in season 2017 with hundreds of females taking to the field in the Eastern Region Women’s and Girls competitions.

Over the past three years’ Australian Rules football has seen a surge in female participation culminating in the 2017 AFL Women’s competition which kicked off in February.

This growth has been reflected at local level with the Eastern Region Girls’ competition expected to host more than 60 teams from across the Eastern Football League and AFL Yarra Ranges in 2017.

For the first time, the league will provide a pathway to Senior football with the inaugural season of the Eastern Region Women’s competition. In conjunction with AFL Yarra Ranges, the league will host a regional competition in season 2017, with new teams being formed all over the East and Yarra Ranges. More established clubs in our region will form part of divisional competitions with clubs from across the East, South and South East of Melbourne.

If you’re interested in playing or being involved, contact the Eastern Football League office to help find your nearest club.
