EFL Media was recognised at last Friday’s AFL Victoria Media Awards at Ikon Park, with EFL Insight winning in the category of Best Radio Football Show.
EFL Insight, proudly brought to you by 1116 SEN – Melbourne’s home of sport, debuted in season 2018 as a weekly podcast, replacing the long-running The Huddle radio program.
Led by EFL Media Manager Daniel Cencic, the show’s panellists also featured various EFL Media team members, including Wayne Brasher, Ray Baird, Gavin Casey, Matt Fotia and Ben Warren-Smith.
Most enjoyable part of my job this year. Thank you so much to everyone involved – thoroughly deserved! #AFLVMediaAwards pic.twitter.com/zdOTxpuK8f — Dan (@DC_EFL) December 7, 2018
Notable segments included the ever-popular Where Are They Now? proudly brought to you by Tobin Brothers Funerals, which each week featured an EFL past-player interviewed about their career, and the informative Prime Cuts, where Leader Newspapers sports journalist Toby Prime would bring listeners all the latest weekly headlines and news from across the competition.
The show never shied away from raising awareness on sensitive issues and notable causes in society, including motor neurone disease through FightMND, the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s #LoveTheGame Round, cystic fibrosis awareness and much more, while also never short of players, presidents, club and League personnel as guests.
The panel also dissected their big ‘winners’, and perhaps big ‘losers’ to emerge from the previous weekend’s action, while also previewing the weekend ahead.
EFL Insight will return in season 2019.
