CULTURE FOR THE FUTURE

A new Coach at a club is like a breath of fresh air – New ideas, new potential and the new hope of success for the coming season.

The appointment of David Thornton as Senior Coach for the 2016 season has offered the chance at a new culture for the Nunawading Football Club.

The Titans will be looking to Thornton to pull them up the ranks in Division 4 as they head into the 2016 season. Nunawading managed four wins for the season but at one stage held a 3-1 record after the first month of the year.

Competitive performance buoyed those at “Titanland” as they pushed Ferntree Gully to within a goal and were competitive against both grand finalists Warrandyte and Kilsyth the first time they played.

Thornton is preparing a season ahead with new culture and is ensuring the club has as many people on board as possible.

“We have some work to do but it is business as normal, I have a job to do and need to get on with it.”

Ex-English Navy, Thornton is no stranger to work hard or the need to motivate, he has taken to social media to ensure the message remains clear and consistent.

“The club is moving forward, we always need more hands on deck. The more support there is the easier it is.”

For now, the club is pushing towards Christmas and a pre-season 2016 that will show the reward for their hard work. The Titans will commence their season at home against 2015 finalists Coldstream on April 9.
