The Blackburn and Whitehorse Pioneers Football Clubs are delighted to announce that they will field a joint under 19 development side in season 2016.
The joint side allows both clubs the opportunity to keep developing players. Blackburn – it allows them to field a second Under 19 team and for the Whitehorse Pioneers being able to field an under 19 team.
The joint team will be known as the Blackburn Pioneers and will follow the Whitehorse Pioneer fixture (Division 4 2016).
Blackburn Football Club President Matthew Breen stated “we had a large number of Under 19 players available, too many for one side but insufficient to field a second standalone side. This partnership now ensures two sides on the park and keeps kids who have been at Blackburn since Auskick at our club”.
Whitehors Pioneers club President Joe Manno commented “we didn’t have sufficient numbers to field a full under 19s side and it therefore made sense to partner with a neighbouring club like Blackburn who have a similar culture and community values”.
Both Presidents commented that each club shared similar values and can see the partnership extending to things beyond the Under 19s development squad.
Breen commented “the Committee at Whitehorse Pioneers are a great group of people and we are excited to be partnering in this way with them”.
